Appointment / Rental Bookings (Add-on) — Setup Guide
The Appointment / Rental Bookings add-on lets you sell bookable products in your marketplace—such as appointments (time slots) or rentals (date ranges). Once enabled:
- Merchants can create booking rules (“Booking Types”) and assign them to products.
- Vendors (in a multi-vendor marketplace) can also assign the available booking rules to their own products.
- Shoppers will see the booking widget on the product page and can place orders based on the selected slot/dates.
Step 1: Purchase the add-on
- Go to Billings & Subscription in your ShipTurtle account.
- Find Appointment / Rental Bookings add-on.
- Purchase / activate the add-on.
Step 2: Enable the Booking App Embed in Shopify (to show the widget)
After activating the add-on, you must enable the ShipTurtle Booking app embed/block in your Shopify theme so the booking widget appears on the storefront.
- In Shopify admin, go to: Sales Channels → Online Store → Themes
- Click Edit theme.
- From the top dropdown (usually shows Home page), select:
Products
- On the left panel, locate your Product template
- Under Product information, choose where you want to place the widget:
- Click the ( + ) Add block
- In the popup, open Apps
- Select ShipTurtle Booking
- Click Save
Your product pages are now ready to display booking widgets for products that have a Booking Type assigned.
Step 3: Create Booking Rules (Booking Types) in ShipTurtle
Booking Types are the “rules” that define how booking works for a product (appointment or rental).
- In the ShipTurtle app, go to Settings → Booking Type
- Click New Booking Type
- Fill in the required details
Tip: click the (?) icon beside fields to understand what they mean
- Click Save
Step 4: Assign a Booking Type to a Product
Once a Booking Type is created, assign it to any product that should support appointment/rental booking.
- Open the Create Product or Update Product page
- Find the dropdown Booking Type
- Select the Booking Type you want to apply
- (Optional) Click the (i) icon next to the dropdown to preview rule details
- Save the product
Only products with a Booking Type selected will show the booking widget on the storefront.
Step 5: Update and Manage Booking Types
Change the Booking Type on a product
- Edit the product and select a different Booking Type, then save.
Edit an existing Booking Type
- Go to Settings → Booking Type
- Click Edit next to the rule you want to update
- Save changes
Delete a Booking Type (important)
- You can delete a Booking Type only if it is not applied to any product.
- If it’s already used by one or more products, it cannot be deleted.
Quick checks (if the widget is not showing)
- Confirm the add-on is active in ShipTurtle Billing
- Confirm ShipTurtle Booking is added in Shopify theme customization → Products template
- Confirm the product has a Booking Type assigned
- Confirm you clicked Save in Shopify theme editor
