Vendor Profile: Showcase Your Sellers Effectively

Enhance your marketplace by creating a dedicated "Shop by Vendor" page. This feature allows customers to explore individual vendors, view their product offerings, and learn more about their business.


What This Does

You're setting up a "Shop by Vendor" page on your website where customers can:

  • Browse all your vendors or sellers.
  • Check their details.
  • Browse their products.

This setup provides a personalized shopping experience, allowing customers to connect with vendors directly.


Step-by-Step Guide

1.     Create the Vendor Profile Page on Shopify

Access the Code Editor

·       Go to Online Store → Themes.

·       Click the three dots (⋯) on the left side of the Customize button.

·       Select Edit code.

Create a Template File

·       Add a new template in the ‘Templates’ folder.

·       Name it page.vendor-profile.json.

·       The theme you’re using will populate the file with some boilerplate code. Leave the file as is, click on save, and exit the editor.

Create a New Page

·       Go to Online Store → Pages → Add Page.

·       Set the Title to Shop by Vendor (leave the content area blank).

·       Under Template, choose vendor-profile, and click save.

·       In the Search engine listing section, click the pencil icon ✏️.

·       Optionally, change the URL handle to your preferred text (or leave it as is).

 

Customize the Page Layout

·       Navigate to Online Store → Themes → Edit Theme.

·       In the top navigation bar, select Home Page → Pages → vendor-profile.

·       In the left sidebar under Templates, click Add Section → Apps → Seller Profile by Shipturtle App and click on save.

Configure the Seller Profile

·       Select the newly added Seller Profile section.

·       Adjust layout and design options as desired — such as button colors, background, text, and headings.

·       For advanced customization, you can add custom CSS or JavaScript to match your store’s branding and design needs.

Save Your Changes

Once satisfied with the setup and appearance, click Save to apply all changes.

 

Create the Vendor Profile Template

·       Go to the Shipturtle app → Multi Vendor Settings → Customize Website.

·       Under "Add a Vendor Profile Page," click Configure Vendor Profile Page.

·       Adjust settings such as the page heading, and the visibility of filters and vendor information according to your needs.


 

Feature Configuration

Customize the Vendor Profile page to align with your marketplace's branding and operational requirements:

  • Theme Customization: Adjust colors, fonts, and layout to match your store's branding.
  • Heading and Visibility Settings: Control the visibility of vendor information and customize headings for clarity.
  • Filter Options: Enable filters to help customers easily navigate through vendor products.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with the Vendor Profile feature:

  • Issue: Vendor profile page not displaying correctly.
  • Solution: Verify that the correct theme template (page.vendor-profile) is selected and that all customizations are saved properly.
  • Issue: Filters not functioning as expected.
  • Solution: Check the filter settings in the Shipturtle app and ensure they are configured correctly.

Create a Liquid Template for Vendor Profile

1. Access the Code Editor

  • From your Shopify Admin panel, go to `Online Store -> Actions -> Edit Code`

2. Create a New Template

  • Go to `Templates -> Add a new template`, and name it “page.vendorProfile.liquid”.

3. Generate Template Code in Shipturtle

  • In the Shipturtle app, go to `Multi Vendor Settings -> Customize Website`.

  • Under "Add a Vendor Profile page", click "Generate Template code".

  • Copy the generated code and add a heading for the Vendor Profile page.
  • Select the information to display, such as "Location" if relevant to your customers.
  • Paste the code into the "page.vendorProfile.liquid" template and click "Save".

Create a Vendor Profile Page

  • Go to `Online Store -> Pages`.

  • Add a new page titled "Shop by Vendor" and leave the content blank.
  • Choose the template for the page to "vendorProfile".

Add the Profile Page to the Website’s Navigation

  • Go to `Navigation -> Content`-> Menus.

  • Select the desired menu (e.g., "Main menu" or "Footer menu").
  • Click "Add menu item", name it (e.g., "Know your Vendors"), and link it to the "Shop by Vendor" page created earlier. Ensure the URL is `https://yourstore.myshopify.com/pages/seller-profile ` (the "seller-profile" part is crucial for the page to load).
  • Click "Save".

Choose a Theme

  • Go to `Settings -> Multi Vendor Settings (Global) -> Customize Website.
  • Under "Choose Theme", select your preferred theme and click "Save".

Add Vendor Details

  • Go to `Vendors -> Edit Vendor`.
  • Add details under "Company settings" and "Vendor Profile" for each vendor.
  • Alternatively, enable vendors to edit their profiles via `Settings -> Multi Vendor Settings -> Customize Website.

Customize the Final Page

  • Customize the look and feel of the vendor profile page according to your brand. You can hire a web designer or contact us for minor tweaks.

Using the Customer Chat Feature

  • The “Contact Us” tab on each Vendor profile allows customers to message vendors directly.
  • These messages can be viewed by both you and the Vendor under the “Messages” menu in the app.
  • Vendors can reply directly to customers using this feature.

Edit Theme Code

  • This feature is available exclusively for Theme 1.
  • If using Theme 1, click the “Edit Theme Code” button to access the code editor.
  • Follow the instructions in the ‘Important Note’ section for a seamless customization process.
  • Use the ‘Edit Theme Template’ and ‘Edit Theme Style’ tabs to modify the structure and appearance of your page.
  • Collaborate with a developer for desired changes or contact us for assistance.
