How marketplace owners connect their PayPal Business account to Shipturtle, and how vendors add their PayPal email so they can be paid through PayPal.

Before you begin
- The Payment Package (PayPal + Stripe) add-on is active. PayPal is an add-on module. Activate Payment Package (PayPal + Stripe) under Settings → Subscription and billing → Payouts before you start. The PayPal option only appears in Integrations once the add-on is active.
- You have a PayPal Business account. Individual accounts can't send payouts, so you need a Business account.
- Payouts are enabled on your PayPal account. Without this, payouts will fail with an authorization error.
Part A: Connect PayPal as the marketplace owner
Step 1: Get your Client ID and Secret from PayPal
- Log in to the PayPal Developer Dashboard (developer.paypal.com) with your PayPal Business account.
- Use the toggle at the top left to choose Live for real payouts, or Sandbox for testing. Both work the same way; only the credentials differ.
- Open Apps & Credentials.
- Under REST API apps, select your app, or click Create App if you don't have one yet.
- Copy the Client ID, then click the eye icon to reveal the Secret and copy it too.

⚠️ Note: Live and Sandbox have different credentials. Use Live credentials for real payouts. Keep your Client ID and Secret private, and never share them in screenshots, chats or screen recordings.
Step 2: Add PayPal in Shipturtle
- In Shipturtle, go to Settings → Integrations.
- Under Payment integrations, click Configure.
- On the Payment integration page, click the + icon.
- In Add Payment integrations, open the Payment gateway dropdown and choose PayPal.
- Paste your Client ID and Client Secret.
- Tick Is Testing only if you're using Sandbox credentials. Leave it unticked for Live.
- Tick Check to make this payment integration as default if you want PayPal to be your default payout method.
- Click Submit.

Enter your PayPal Client ID and Client Secret. Both values are blurred.
Once saved, PayPal appears in your list with the status Connected, and Default: Yes if you set it as default.

Part B: Connect PayPal as a vendor
Each vendor who wants to be paid through PayPal adds their own PayPal email address from their vendor dashboard. Vendors don't need API credentials.
- Log in to your vendor dashboard and go to Settings → Integrations.
- Under Payment integrations, click Configure.
- On the Payment integration page, click the + icon.
- Open the Payment gateway dropdown and choose PayPal. You'll see the message "Paypal not connected. Enter email below box to connect paypal".
- Enter your PayPal email address, the one linked to the PayPal account where you want to receive payouts.
- Click Submit.

💡 Tip: Double-check the email address. Payouts are sent to whichever PayPal account it belongs to.
How payouts work after setup
Once the marketplace and the vendor have both connected PayPal, you can pay that vendor through PayPal from the Payouts page, or automatically with payout automation. Payouts are sent from the marketplace's PayPal Business account to the vendor's PayPal email.

FAQs
I can't see PayPal in the Payment gateway dropdown.
The Payment Package (PayPal + Stripe) add-on isn't active yet. Activate it under Settings → Subscription and billing → Payouts, then try again.
Can I test the integration first?
Yes. Use your Sandbox Client ID and Secret, and tick Is Testing. Switch to Live credentials, and untick Is Testing, before paying vendors for real.
Do vendors need a special PayPal account?
No. Vendors simply enter the email address of their PayPal account. No API keys or extra setup are needed on their side.
Can a vendor change their PayPal email later?
Yes. On the vendor's Payment integration page, click the edit icon next to PayPal.
Troubleshooting
Authorization error when paying vendors
Make sure payouts are enabled on your PayPal Business account, and that you're using Live credentials with Is Testing unticked (or Sandbox credentials with it ticked).
"This field is required" when I click Submit
Both the Client ID and the Client Secret are required for the marketplace. Vendors must enter a PayPal email address.
A vendor didn't receive their payout
Check that the email shown on the vendor's Payment integration page is correct and belongs to an active PayPal account.
