The PayPal Add-on enables Shipturtle marketplaces to accept secure online payments from customers worldwide using PayPal. Payments are processed through the admin’s PayPal business account, providing a trusted and widely recognized checkout experience. It supports international transactions and multiple currencies, making it ideal for global marketplaces. Admins retain full control over payment collection while managing orders and payouts efficiently.
1) Select Individual/Business Account Option
To integrate PayPal with ShipTurtle, you need to create a PayPal account. Depending on your needs, you can choose between two account types:
- Business Account: Ideal for receiving payments and managing transactions for a marketplace or online business.
- Individual Account: Does not support receiving payments. You must use a Business Account for PayPal integration with ShipTurtle.
Note:
An Individual Account will not work for receiving payments on ShipTurtle, so make sure you set up a Business Account.
2) Create or Select App in PayPal
Once you have your PayPal Business Account set up, follow these steps to generate REST API credentials for both sandbox (for testing) and live environments (for real transactions):
Step-by-Step:
- Log in to the PayPal Developer Dashboard:
Go to PayPal Developer Dashboard. - Navigate to My Apps & Credentials:
In the Dashboard menu, select My Apps & Credentials. - Select Sandbox Environment:
Ensure you are on the Sandbox tab to obtain credentials for testing your integration. After testing, switch to the Live tab for credentials needed for real transactions. - Create or Select an App:
Under the App Name column, select the Default Application (automatically created with a new PayPal Developer Dashboard account).
If the default app is not listed, click Create App to generate one.
3) Get the Secret Key
To complete the PayPal integration, you will need two pieces of information:
- Client ID
- Secret Key
Steps to Get the Secret Key:
- Go to the PayPal Admin Panel:
Access it by visiting PayPal Settings. - Navigate to API Keys:
Under the Developers section, find API Keys. - Copy the Secret Key:
You will need the Client ID and Secret Key from PayPal. Copy the Secret Key as it will be required to complete the integration process in ShipTurtle.
4) Visit ShipTurtle and Configure PayPal
Once you have the Client ID and Secret Key, you can integrate PayPal into ShipTurtle.
Steps to Configure PayPal:

5) Vendor Payment via PayPal
After completing the integration, all vendors selling on your marketplace will be able to receive payments through PayPal. PayPal will handle the payouts directly, simplifying the process for both you and your vendors.
6) Troubleshooting PayPal Integration
Authorization Errors:
If you encounter an authorization error when processing payments with PayPal in ShipTurtle, check the following:
- Ensure Payouts are enabled in your PayPal account. Without enabling payouts, the integration won’t work.
Summary
- Create a PayPal Business Account.
- Generate API credentials from the PayPal Developer Dashboard.
- Configure PayPal in ShipTurtle by entering the Client ID and Secret Key.
- Once connected, vendors can start receiving payments via PayPal.
This integration will allow you to seamlessly pay your vendors using PayPal, ensuring smooth transactions in your marketplace.
